In fact, we’re proud to say our products grace the shelves of an incredible 94% of Canadian households!With a 140-year legacy driven by innovation and unwavering quality, we’re seeking like-minded individuals to join us in shaping our next chapter.About the opportunity:The Quality Supervisor is responsible for supervising the operations of the Quality lab including 8 unionized Technicians, 2 summer students, lab procedures, documentation control, and the maintenance of lab equipment while ensuring adherence to good laboratory operating procedures.The attributes we are looking for: Ensure timely and accurate testing of ingredients and finished products to achieve compliance with product specifications and support on-going efficiency of manufacturing. Provide guidance and supervision to lab employees, production employees and peers to ensure Laboratory programs and methodology are within regulatory and corporate requirements to maintain food safety and product quality.Provide leadership to improve health and safety performance by being a role model in safety and demonstrating due diligence through applying the corporate health & safety program elements. These focus on incident prevention through hazard identification, implementing necessary controls, training, education, and audits. Where necessary, take corrective action to address unsafe situations and employee behaviours, uphold Parmalat’s cardinal and other safety rules and procedures, and communicate with appropriate resources to address any hazardous conditions or unsafe employee conduct.Provide leadership and supervision to employees by providing work direction, performance feedback, and recommendations for training and development. Promote a positive labour management relationship and ensure compliance with the Company’s corporate and legal obligations under the Collective Agreement, as well as various statutes and regulations such as the Employment Standards Act, Workers Compensation Act, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.Where applicable Ensure that all internal and external food quality audits are completed with acceptable pass levels and review all recommendations to ensure that the corrective actions are completed within the specified time period.Where applicable ensure that all corporate quality measures in the plant are monitored (e.g. HACCP, GMP and Sanitation) by maintaining the plants PQMS systems and by conducting regular plant audits to promote a focus on excellence in quality, yield and cost containment in conjunction with assisting with Continuous Improvement initiatives.Reinforce the quality control function by promoting awareness of and adherence to quality control/assurance and product safety standards/principles/practices within all operating group areas, by conducting regular GMP and HACCP training with all employees, analyzing quality trends, and supporting production with problem solving.Develop, enhance and verify the lab standard operating specifications (SOP’s) documents and forms. Ensure lab employees complete testing, tasks and documentation requirements in accordance with SOP.Where applicable Assist in the improvement of existing products and of the development of new products by reviewing product formulations, product and ingredient specifications, label compliance, packaging approval, SOP’s and Process flows to ensure food quality and regulatory requirements are met.Where applicable participate in the development of new or existing products and the introduction of new technology by performing evaluations, on-site inspections and validations to ensure government and internal regulatory requirements are being met.Ensure that all quality programs, systems and compliance meet or exceed corporate and legislated specifications by conducting routine product analyses and systems audits to verify compliance.Support adherence to departmental budget through on-going monitoring of departmental spending.Where applicable, in collaboration with customer service, sales and production, respond to customer and consumer demands.Implement comprehensive lab equipment, maintenance and calibration program and routinely verify the accurate functioning of the equipment.Assist the Quality Manager to monitor and maintain, in combination with the production department, the cleaning and sanitation programs including the sanitary maintenance procedures.What you will bring:Bachelor degree in Dairy or Food Science or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experienceThree (3) years’ experience in Quality Control/Assurance, preferably in dairy manufacturingKnowledge of Quality Assurances programs such as GMP, HACCP and ISOStrong team facilitation/leadership skills with a commitment to team developmentStrong interpersonal, and communication skills (verbal and written)Leadership / team facilitation skillsAnalytical, problem solving, and decision-making skillsExperience in managing unionized employees, a strong assetProficient with standard office computer technology such as Microsoft Office products, as well as business systems such as SAPWhat Lactalis will offer:Lactalis Canada believes in rewarding its people with the following comprehensive benefits package and perks:A Competitive Base SalaryA retention bonus8 % vacationBenefits starting day 1Learning and Development opportunitiesA commitment to internal career advancement with potential for international mobilityOur ESG commitment: Our ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) roadmap drives our sustainability mission.
