Quality Engineer

Cambridge, Ontario
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Salary: $50,000-$60,000 / year

Kromet International Inc. designs & manufactures premium quality aluminum extrusion for the automotive, medical, furniture, lighting, mass transit and appliance industries.

The Quality Engineer is responsible for Kromet (Cambridge, ON). The Quality Engineer is in charge of support tasks of the Quality System based on theresponsibilities listed below, other required tasks may be added as required.

Responsibilities :

  • Support review and edit documentation of Kromet’s Quality Management System.
  • Administer NCR database to ensure all info are adequately included, and ready for Quality management review and decisions.
  • Review and simplify existing applicable lengthy IPI to make it less time consuming, more efficient and easier to implement by operations personnel.
  • Audit Kromet’s QMS to ensure adequacy, keep it UpToDate and provide suggestions for improvements.
  • Maintain Quality records and databases such as Quality Alerts, Deviation records, …etc.
  • Follow up on development of the PFMEA, and ensure proper implementation.
  • Generate daily Quality PPM and Monthly reports.
  • Perform data analysis as required.
  • Follow up on improvement actions based on findings from Roving audits, dock audits, in process inspection sheets, customer complaints, scrap, yield, quality alerts and high RPNs.
  • Determine requirements for capability studies and verify results.
  • Develop & maintain In-process Inspection Sheets based on respective Control Plans for new programs.
  • Develop plan for Gage Calibrations & GR&Rs, review results and control the yearly plan. Make arrangements to repair calipers.
  • Create visual aid as required.
  • Issue, control and maintain audit plans and results for roving audits, dock audits, in process audits & final audits.
  • Administer non-conforming product system (internal and external) – quality alerts, CARs, 8D’s and other documentation required from the customers.
  • Problem solving skills are key.
  • Coordinate internal preventive and corrective action activities for defect & scrap reduction.
  • Support activities for APQP / PPAP.
  • Other activities as required by Quality Manager or Designate.
