Galvion designs, develops, and manufactures ballistic helmets and dynamic power and data management solutions for the modern battlefield. THE OPPORTUNITY The Quality Engineer is an essential position within Galvion’s Armor business unit, providing support to the Quality, Production, Supply Chain and Program Delivery groups. The main responsibility of this position is to effectively establish, communicate, maintain, and verify conformance to product specifications and quality system requirements. The role directly supports the THS LOB Program Delivery team charged with the successful delivery of all major programs to the customer base. This role also participates in the cross-functional teams to develop control plans and address, contain, and correct instances of non-conformance. The person in this position is expected to facilitate root cause analyses (internally and with suppliers) to ensure that causes are fully understood and actions are taken to prevent recurrences. This role participates in supplier and internal audits, and ensures that follow up actions are established. Working closely with the Director of Quality and Director Program Management (Delivery) the role is an essential link between maintaining quality and meeting the high pressure demands of customer deliveries. SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES People: Coordinating with Product Engineers, QC personnel, Supplier quality representatives and Program Managers to establish and implement control plans for supplied parts and manufacturing processes. Coordinating with QC, Lab personnel, and supplier QC groups the required FAI and LAT testing. Interacting with Supply-Chain and Quality management to facilitate supplied-part approvals. Working with Supplier quality representatives to issue, monitor, and close Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs). Participating in cross-functional teams to perform root cause analysis (RCA) and to implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) using 8D methodology. Process: Supplier Performance: Participate in supplier quality audits to the ISO 9001 standard and maintain the Supplier Score Card system. Internal Quality Assurance: Perform statistical analyses of supplier and internal quality data (capability studies, control charts, gauge R&R studies) and facilitate improvement efforts. Control of non-conforming product: Perform immediate containment and support the Material Review Board (MRB) to provide timely disposition and RMAs for nonconforming material. On Time Delivery: Work and plan with the delivery team to ensure first quality and on time delivery take place in tandam. Performance: Ensure that control plan and new part approvals meet stage gate timing requirements. Ensure that assigned internal and supplier audit are timely and effective Ensure timely and effective CAPA closure. Ultimately, the efforts of the Quality Compliance Engineer are intended to continually improve customer PPM and process first-pass yields. Knowledge, Skill & Experience Requirements Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline Internship, coop, or project experience (Quality experience a plus) in a manufacturing environment Must be able to read and understand technical drawings 8D problem solving and root cause analysis skills are a plus ISO 9001 internal and second-party auditor skills a plus Skill in the use of Microsoft Office tools required Experience in the use of statistical software (e.g. Minitab) is considered a plus Knowledge of injection molding, textiles, pattern making, cut & sew processes would be advantageous Experience with ERP programs is considered a plus Highly motivated problem solver Ability to travel within Canada and United States Meticulous attention to detail Military experience is a plus THE TEAMYou will work closely with an accomplished leader with significant industry experience and be the SME on a team of passionate and driven individuals who are making a difference for our modern-day war fighters, law enforcement, and EMS.
