Job Description

Job Purpose: Overall responsibility for the Quality performance of the Double Choc Donut Bakery. The QA Technician works cross-functionally with Production Supervisor, Manager and QA Manager to successfully deliver on accountabilities and key objectives.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Strict monitoring of production activities - mixing, weight, records, labels, packaging.
  • Monitoring of viscosity for glaze, coating and batters.
  • Daily Pre-ops on each shift.
  • Waste monitoring.
  • Training employees.
  • Support BRC’s Global Standard for Food Safety program and HACCP program.
  • Training of new employee for Food Safety and Quality program.
  • Ensuring food safety and quality of all products and maintaining plant efficiency (example: following recipes, minimal waste and preventative maintenance).
  • Support guidance to ensure product meets quality and product safety specifications.
  • Monitoring employee behavior for GMP’s and employee safety.
  • On-line monitoring for Critical Control Point – metal detector.
  • Be part of the Recall Teams.
  • Observed production records.
  • Actively involved during audit and corrective action follow-up.
  • Monitor quality performance and establish plans to improve.
  • Support Sanitation Program and pest control program.
  • Perform operational inspection.
  • Other tasks required by daily production.
Qualifications:
  • Basic knowledge of quality standards & Quality tools.
  • Strong listening, Communication skills and ability to provide clear & constructive feedback in a positive manner.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and work as part of a team.
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food science or related field is required.
  • Experience in food processing plant with GMP standards is preferred, training will be provided.

Expected hours: 40 per week
Work Location: In person
Schedule:
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
Education:
  • Secondary School (preferred)
