The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for planning and conducting quality assurance activities on engineering, manufacturing and/or project management processes on individual projects and for planning and conducting audits of the management system processes. The QA Specialist assists project teams and functional departments in resolving quality problems and improving processes.
Responsibilities
Plan and conduct quality assurance activities on assigned projects to ensure they are conducted in accordance with project plans and internal processes, including:
- Reviewing quality requirements
- Planning day-to-day assurance activities
- Reviewing engineering, manufacturing, and project management documentation
- Auditing engineering, manufacturing, and project management processes
- Interfacing with customers
- Reporting status to the QA Manager
- Verifying contractual quality requirements are satisfied
Plan and conduct system audits to assure processes are conducted in accordance with process requirements, internal procedures, and ISO 9001 requirements. This includes:
Interviewing auditees and reviewing process objective evidence
Interfacing with process owners
Writing audit reports
Reviewing, tracking, and verifying corrective actions
Develop and improve quality assurance department processes
Support the preparation of proposals
Co-ordinate customer quality system audits and first piece/first article inspections
Qualifications
A solid technical background, with at least 2 years of experience in a quality assurance, engineering, trade, or technical role
Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Familiarity with ISO 9001: 2015
The ability to think critically, understand processes, analyse data and manage multiple tasks
Experience in an engineering/manufacturing environment is considered an asset
Experience in aerospace and defence is considered an asset
