Job Responsibilities

(Internal Title: Engineering V)

Conduct quality inspections in a manufacturing setting and establish Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) processes and programs for rail vehicles

Provide expert services to assist our client with detailed reviews and policy analysis

Leverage your knowledge of a rail operating environment, including overhaul shops, carhouses, yards, and main lines coupled with a background in production engineering and methods

Utilize your extensive knowledge of quality assurance and control standards in relation to production planning and control

Read and interpret engineering drawings and the GD&T associated with them

Oversee the inspection and testing of vehicles during all phases of fabrication and while undergoing qualification and/or acceptance testing

Demonstrate experience with special processes during manufacturing such as welding, manufacturing processes, etc.

Guarantee the completeness of all inspections

Document, manage, and track non-conformities and opportunities for improvement 

Create deficiency lists resulting from the detailed inspections and work with others on the team 

Facilitate regular meetings with clients, third parties, and managers to assess progress, resolve critical issues and mitigate risk

Provide advice and comment on site quality issues 

Attend project meetings as needed

Qualifications Required

Experience: 

Minimum of 15 years of relevant Inspection and Quality Coordination, Production Engineering and Methods experience

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Engineering, Quality Management, or Project Management 

Licenses OR Certifications:

Holding a Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) certification

Skills and Competencies: 

Knowledge of the client’s rail operating environment, including overhaul shops, carhouses, yards, and main lines

Understanding of quality assurance and control standards in relation to production planning and control

Proficient in reviewing and interpreting Engineering drawings and specifications and the GD&T associated with them

Demonstrated experience in inspection and testing of vehicles during all phases of fabrication and while undergoing qualification and acceptance testing

Proven experience with special processes during manufacturing such as welding, manufacturing processes, etc.

Experience working with transit vehicles or in transit operations 

Proficient in MS Office Suite including MS Project

Ability to arrange priorities and escalate competing risks to meet deadlines with minimum input from leadership

Keen eye for detail and adept problem-solving abilities

Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment by ensuring effective teamwork, promotion of innovation, and overall excellence 

Must have demonstrated experience relaying and receiving information (written and verbal) in a demanding multidisciplinary project environment 

Expert ability to work collaboratively and independently in a structured, disciplined, technology-driven environment
