The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for the execution of quality engineering and manufacturing processes from the design and development phase of projects through to manufacturing and deliverables on a wide range of systems. They will work to maintain quality awareness through the entire lifecycle of the project with a particular focus on the early phases of engineering process resulting in reliable and cost effective products and services.
Quality Assurance Engineers are required to address the high volume of production and resulting build documentation that needs to be completed in the Towed Array and Sonobuoy areas. We require strong applicants with experience in nonconformance's around the incomplete and inaccurate build documentation and to ensure that documentation, inspections, FAT events and Gate Reviews are properly addressed. The Quality Assurance Engineer will actively participate in program meetings and upcoming gate reviews working closely with our cross-functional Teams in Project Management and Production.

Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Job Description

  • Lead root cause investigations on current and past products and ensure new product development processes improve as a result. This includes part selection, design aspects, processing, and supplier selection.
  • Implement Engineering and Production quality planning to ensure initial design meets customer requirements.
  • Ensure quality issues are identified and resolved as early as possible and included in risk mitigation plans.
  • Work with product development and concurrent engineering teams to optimize quality from concept/architecture phase to minimize quality and pre-production issues, including attending gate review meetings (SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR, TRR, FDR, PRR).
  • Record and disposition nonconformance's, including organizing Material Review Board meetings and defining root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Assist in the optimization of tolerances to drive costs down while increasing quality.
  • Ensure thorough definition and control of product hardware and software configuration. Generate Quality Plans, Acceptance Test Plans, Inspection Plans and other related quality documents as required by projects.
  • Establish statistical techniques and perform statistical analysis of data.
  • Participate in internal quality system auditing.
  • Supplier quality including capability assessments, ratings and auditing.
  • Any other duties as required.

Role Requirement:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or related technical discipline.
Professional QA designation (CQE, CQA) would be an asset.
5+ years of working in a quality assurance role within a high tech engineering or manufacturing industry.

Possess strong working knowledge of the ISO 9001 Quality Management Standards

Demonstrated experience using a variety of problem-solving techniques and tools.

Aerospace, defense or related high-tech experience is a significant advantage.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
 

Ability to work on Canadian Controlled Goods and US ITAR controlled articles.

Candidate must be capable of acquiring a NATO Secret security clearance.

Excellent level of computer literacy (Word, Excel, MS Project) with good report writing capabilities Able to travel within Canada, US and Overseas.
