About the Position
The Horne Smelter, located in Rouyn-Noranda, and the CCR Refinery, located in Montreal East, are involved in the manufacture of the copper found in the majority of everyday objects. The company, which has been in business for almost 95 years, employs more than 1,200 people who make up the greatest asset of Glencore’s North American Copper Operations. The company contributes to the responsible supply of a commodity that improves everyday life.
The Horne Smelter is currently looking for a Quality Assurance and Production Head to help manage a multidisciplinary team in the material preparation and quality control sectors.
More specifically, you will:
• Strategically manage the Department’s human and material resources.
• Support and develop the quality management system and ensure that the various processes in force are complied with.
• Target, assign and coordinate projects according to industry and market needs.
• Communicate and exchange best practices and areas for improvement with other Glencore entities on a regular basis.
• Manage and control external quality assurance requests.
• Manage and support primary sample preparation departments.
• Participate in the assessment and communication of the Smelter’s primary power requirements.
Skills
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, geology or science
• At least 3 years’ experience in a similar position
• Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams on commercial metallurgy-related projects
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on producing results
• Excellent communication, collaboration and leadership skills
• Attention to detail
• Proficiency in Office Suite
Languages: excellent command of English and French both orally and in writing.
Travel: Frequent travel to Horne Foundry (Rouyn-Noranda)
