ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY The Buyer is accountable for procuring materials in accordance with the organization's strategy. Their duties include negotiating discounts and securing lower wholesale prices through bulk orders. The preferred candidate should possess prior purchasing expertise in a similar environment, managing the procurement of high-quality materials and maintaining vendor relationships. As a collaborative team member, the Buyer demonstrates a positive, professional, and proactive work approach. RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and implement purchasing strategies Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors. Work with purchasing team to negotiate contracts, pricing, and payment terms with suppliers. Keep track of stock levels and place orders as necessary to avoid any disruptions in operations. Ensure materials are received and distributed to support operations including working with the warehouse team to ensure proper receiving procedures are being followed and monthly inventory management for greenhouse supplies and fertilizers in Delta. Perform vendor analysis and monitoring performance of inventory, including monthly reconciliation of disposal bills for accuracy, pricing, and cost allocation. Manage inventory levels and coordinate with sales and finance to forecast demand and ensure supply stability. Evaluate and compare suppliers to achieve cost-effectiveness and sustainability targets. Identify areas of opportunity to minimize and /or eliminate of waste of materials or indiscriminate spending. Continuously develop supplier base to improve on-time delivery, cost, and quality to ensure the Company’s supply levels are met. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related field. Minimum of 3-5 years experience in purchasing, preferably in Packaging, Food Processing, Manufacturing, Retail, Logistics, Grocery and or similar sectors Experience with overseas purchasing is a requirement Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and any relevant purchasing software. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Analytical thinker that is well-organized and excellent attention to detail.
