Job Description

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Purchasing Manager is responsible for transactional support and procurement of all project materials needed to support our organizations. The incumbent must be capable of maintaining a high standard of professional knowledge, ethics and practices when dealing with customers, suppliers, peers, supervisors, and other key stakeholders of the company.Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesAnalyze and evaluate materials and products, identify, and investigate suitable vendors and distributors.Identify areas of opportunity (cost savings/inventory reduction).Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction with both internal customers and vendors.Negotiate, review, and analyze purchase orders from start to finish.Provide accurate costing for purchased items.Review requisitions, issue requests for quotation (RFQs), issue purchase orders, handle expedited orders, coordinate delivery terms, and communicate with internal customers and external vendors.Understand, support, and adhere to the company’s health and safety policies, programs, and procedures by communicating and promoting health and safety awareness to coworkers and subordinates.Other responsibilities and accountabilities as assigned.FabricationFamiliarity in a Fabrication environmentAbility to read drawings an assetAwareness of steel and other material grades and material uses.Experience ordering factory doors and fittingsKnowledge of Silencers and partsFastener experience and knowledge of Fastener grades / materialsElectricalKnowledge of basic electrical materials, boxes , wire , panels, coverplates, terminal blocks etc.Experience reading basic electrical drawingsFamiliarity with local Electrical vendorsBasic understanding of Electrical Voltages and PhasesShopKnowledge of Safety Equipment and supplies required in a fab shopUnderstanding of welding consumables and suppliesOfficeLogistics awareness and knowledge of customs formsAble to update BOM’sSelf Starter and continuous improvement practitionerGood working knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft office ( Excel )RequirementsAt least 5 years related experience in manufacturing/production environment.Experience purchasing steels is required.Excellent verbal & written communication skills, decision making.Excellent negotiation skills, decision making skills, problem solving, organizational and analytical skills. Strong knowledge of Excel, and Microsoft OfficeExcellent attention to detail and time management.Collaborative in nature, yet self-motivated.Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and alter focus when necessary.Experience in structural steel and sheet metal design is a must.
