Job Description

The PositionThis is an exciting opportunity to join a leading-edge company. As a key contributing member of the leadership group, you will drive our purchasing and inventory management strategies and policies. Reporting to the Vice President, Operations you will work closely with the Production Control, Production, and Engineering Managers to manage our manufacturing operations and ensure on time delivery of quality products through efficient materials management practices. SAP Business One is the ERP system at the heart of our operations providing timely and effective MRP signals to the purchasing and planning teams.ResponsibilitiesSource, recommend, and qualify new and alternate suppliers.Develop and manage effective relationships with suppliers to meet cost, quality and delivery targets.Negotiate vendor agreements, favorable payment terms, Incoterms, pricing and lead-time reductions.Improve supply chain performance through implementing supplier managed inventory programs (consignment), just-in-time deliveries and safety stock.Manage KPI to measure, control and benchmark procurement processes including creation of recurring metrics reports to drive improvements for the Operations network.Ensure the accuracy of inventory records, including electronic depletion/replenishment, appropriate cycle counting methods and the annual physical inventory process.Collaborate with Business Development, Engineering, Finance and Manufacturing to identify and analyze inventory needs based on customer demand and sales trends to ensure optimum stock levels and turnover goals.Develop policies, procedures, systems, and programs to meet business objectives and drive continuous improvement.Develop and manage systems to evaluate, monitor and report supplier scorecard performance.Organize the efficient operation of in-bound freight and appropriate documentation.Direct and maintain an effective department through the selection, development, and performance management of personnel.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsDiploma or bachelor’s degree in related field (Business, Engineering, Purchasing).SCMP, CPP or PMAC designation an asset.5+ years of experience in a Materials, Purchasing or Supply Chain Management role.Experience in a contract/made-to-order manufacturing environment.Superior knowledge of materials management and lean manufacturing practices.Experience using a fully integrated ERP system - preferably SAP Business OneSelf-starter with strong organizational and communication skillsValue attention to detail, with a hands-on, team player approachFamiliarity with ISO 9001.Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent time management and organizational skills.
