Job Description

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Purchasing Administrator to support our procurement activities in the mining industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing purchase orders, supplier relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of materials and services. This role requires strong communication skills, an understanding of procurement processes, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:


Purchase Order Management:

  • Create, review, and process purchase orders for materials and services.
  • Ensure purchase orders comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and track the status of open purchase orders and expedite deliveries as needed.

Supplier Coordination:

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues related to order discrepancies, delays, or quality concerns.
  • Assist in supplier evaluations and performance reviews.

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor inventory levels and generate purchase requisitions as needed.
  • Work closely with warehouse and inventory control teams to manage stock levels and forecast future needs.

Documentation and Record-Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all purchasing activities.
  • Ensure all documentation is properly filed and accessible for audits and reviews.
  • Prepare reports on purchasing activities, costs, and supplier performance.

Cost Control:

  • Assist in negotiating pricing and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings.
  • Monitor and report on purchasing budgets and expenditures.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with procurement processes.


Qualifications:


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably in the mining industry.
  • Familiarity with mining equipment, materials, and services is highly desirable.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in using procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to analyze data and generate reports.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
