Job Description

We are recruiting for a PSYCHIATRIST (Adult Intensive Services)

This is a full-time role (35 hours per week) based in Guelph & Wellington County, ON.

The Psychiatrist will deliver direct and indirect psychiatric services to CMHA WW Adult Intensive Services clients.

Adult Intensive Services (AIS) is a recovery-oriented, evidence-based best practice with an interdisciplinary team of clinicians monitoringclients with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) in a specific catchment. This continuity provides better opportunities for recovery and rehabilitation and ties in well with the natural course of SPMI with its recurring episodes and relapses.

Working in a team based model, the Psychiatrist will treat complex individuals who have serious mental health and addictions issues, requiring long term support and treatment. The Psychiatrist is required to work collaboratively in a team-based care model, including with community partners and primary care.

  • Interest in actively supporting educational activities and an academic teaching appointment is an asset.
  • CMHA WW uses a hybrid model of in person and virtual service delivery.
  • Payment is a combination of fee for service and sessional fees with no overhead costs. This offers a competitive earning potential.

The incumbent requires:

  • FRCP(C) in Psychiatry and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
  • Experience in psychiatric specialties (adult psychiatry, addictions, serious and persistent mental illness)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team(s)
  • Commitment to community-based services
  • Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to social and cultural diversity
  • Highly developed organizational, communication and problem solving skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Outlook and various database software
  • Valid driver’s license and own transportation
