Reporting to the UG Mine Engineering Coordinator the Project Mine Engineer will fulfill their duties as a member of the Mine Engineering Department and collaborate closely with other departments. Given the remote location and scale of the operations, they may be required to broaden their scope of responsibilities and demonstrate proficiency and autonomy in relevant areas. The Project Mine Engineer is accountable for the design, planning, and execution of engineering services for the underground project. Responsibilities include short-range and mid-range planning, mine design, ventilation, mine services, construction, and other production-related projects. They will ensure the attainment of project goals and objectives while upholding and fostering Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety standards, and environmental protocols.

  • Create weekly and 3-month mining plans in collaboration with the mining operations and other stakeholders;
  • Assist the Long-Range Planner by ensuring the short and mid-range planning are aligned with the long-range plan;
  • Lead design review meetings for lateral development and general level design;
  • Responsible for the design, planning and approval of ventilation, water management and construction systems for the underground mine;
  • Follow up with consultants according to underground construction projects;
  • List and order all the required components to successfully deliver projects;
  • Assist in the implementation of technology project expansions, driving the team to ensure high performance and productivity;
  • Align weekly priorities with the Drill and Blast Technicians and the Underground Surveyors;
  • Collaborate with the Geology Department for stockpile management;
  • Verify and approve lateral development, ventilation, mine services and construction layouts;
  • Act as relief coverage for Mine Technicians, performing field duties such as surveying, ventilation, ground support and mine services work, as required;
  • Produce various KPI reports on project development;
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement initiatives in safety and productivity;
  • Perform other such duties as may be assigned.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • 4-5 years of experience in a similar role in the engineering field;
  • Experience in a leadership role is considered an asset.
  • Professional designation (P.Eng.) in the Northwest Territories/Nunavut (NAPEG) or another jurisdiction and able to quickly obtain designation;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written).

YOUR WORK SCHEDULE

  • Schedule: 21 days of work, followed by 21 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from Edmonton, AB and Yellowknife, NWT.
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
