Job Description

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role exists to achieve the delivery of Engineering Product Development Projects involving our unique welding cameras for inspection of welding processes. Typical projects include design activities in electronics, mechanics, optics, and software.

Working with our local Engineering and Production teams, as well as the occasional outside resource, you will be responsible for ensuring on-time delivery of multiple concurrently running Engineering projects, each typically ranging from weeks to months of design and development.

In this position, the incumbent will:

  • Design project schedules in cooperation with the Engineering team.
  • Ensure a level of project requirements documentation appropriate to the project scope is in place.
  • Monitor project progress and roadblocks; identify alternative directions where appropriate.
  • Co-ordinate project effort between Engineering specialties
  • Interface with Product and Corporate Management to ensure that needs are being met.
  • Interface with Production and external vendors to ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Validate that project outcomes meet the stated project requirements.
  • Facilitate kick-off meetings, ongoing design reviews, post-completion project reviews, etc.
  • Facilitate internal handoff of new products to the Production team.
Required Skills/Experience:
  • As this position requires developing close working relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, a solid command of both spoken and written English is absolutely mandatory.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a technical discipline.
  • Substantial (5+ years) prior experience in Technical Project Management, with a demonstrated portfolio of successful technical product development projects.
Ideal Candidate Additional Characteristics:
  • PMP Certification
  • Experience in entrepreneurial small business.
  • Experience in the Welding industry would be ideal.
  • Self-starter, entrepreneurial spirit
