Role Overview
The Project Manager, Marketing & Communications leads the development and coordination of marketing and communications projects across all Marketing, Brand, Digital and Communication teams with the purpose of developing a synchronized and accelerated cadence of successful deliverables that motivates external supporters and delights internal clients. Acts as the voice of Diabetes Canada throughout all creative and content, aligning to the established brand narrative and identity.
In this project management role, you will lead, coach, and improve the disciplined agile delivery of Marketing and Communications’ ways of working for projects and programs to guide and optimize continuous improvement delivery, aligned to metrics of success.
Location: 1300-522 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario. Flexible work agreement policy in place allowing employees to work on a hybrid schedule, working remotely and with the expectation of being in-office 1 day a week.
This role includes, but is not limited to:
- Strategize and proactively recommend new opportunities and improvements of existing marketing and communication projects across various channels to optimize for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
- Act in a shared services capacity to the Marketing and Communications teams to facilitate support requests from across the full organization, taking the marketing brief and deconstructing into actionable work packages/timelines, and orchestrating delivery – internally or externally - of development, and closing the loop with cadence feedback.
- Lead, organize, and disseminate marketing and communication internal information through existing or new sharing platforms (such as Microsoft Teams, Asana) to increase ease of use and value to all internal stakeholders; create and maintain internal workflows, digital forms, dashboards, and develop related training/training materials for their use.
- Develop and maintain a thorough and current knowledge of the charity health market in which Diabetes Canada operates, with an eye to the marketing and communications objectives and fundraising goals.
- Foster a highly collaborative marketing and communications environment while embracing the plans and processes of the wider organization.
- Lead weekly Marketing status meetings within the MarCom group to ensure projects are on track.
- Produce and disseminate retrospectives for Marketing projects.
- Play a supporting role with the monthly development of the Diabetes Canada Integrated Calendar, coordinating and gathering inputs from many stakeholders across the organization.
- Promote, model, mentor, and evolve Agile / Scrum / Kanban / SAFe / LEAN principles across the Marketing and Communication teams.
The ideal candidate possesses:
- University or college undergraduate degree in a marketing and communications related field.
- Certification(s) in project management (PMP), LEAN, and/or agile (DASM, DASSM, SAFe, Advanced scrum master, Scrum Master, Green/Black Six Sigma Belt).
- 5+ years experience in managing creative and go-to-market campaigns.
- 3+ years experience working in Waterfall, LEAN, and/or Agile frameworks and using related technologies and platforms.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to present information in an organized, logical, and effective manner to a wide variety of audiences including senior leadership.
- Strong technical acumen, coupled with strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to execute on marketing and communications strategic direction to diverse leaders, influence key stakeholders, and collaborate with teams to organize, coordinate, and deliver complex campaigns as well as a high volume of tasks.
- Proven ability to guide subject matter experts through campaign creation, requirements gathering, planning, design, development, testing, and support phases.
- Experience with leading and coaching teams through Kanban steps and stages such as planning, reviews, retrospectives.
