Job Description

Corporate/Regional Health,Safety and Quality Standards: Maintain compliance with the Health, Safety, and Quality Management Systems requirements. Follow and enforce Core Lab’s safety and quality protocols to ensure a safe work environment for all employees and to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of the department. Enforce Core Lab’s Safety and Quality Policy and ensure timely and accurate reporting of non-conformance. Acknowledge all non-conformances, Assume responsibility and Act to rectify the situation and where possible implement procedural changes to minimize or eliminate the chances of reoccurrence. Contribute to the effectiveness of the Management Systems, including improvement of performance and reduction of nonconformities. Operate in a professional manner, adhering to Core Lab’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics to ensure accurate and ethical reporting of data. Maintain confidentiality and impartiality. Essential Duties,Responsibilities and Authorities: Must be able to perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision with a commitment to seeing projects through to completion on or ahead of schedule. Promote Core Laboratories services through visits, telephone calls, core viewing, and developing and delivering formal technical presentations. Engage in direct domestic and intercompany client contact to consult and ascertain scope and timeline for individual projects and to deliver on-going status updates. Conduct or direct data collection from multiple analyses e.g. petrophyscial data (i.e. porosity, permeability, saturations, etc.), thin section petrography, x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, log interpretation, core descriptions etc. Fully integrate all available data to provide scientifically accurate and professionally sound final reports. Conduct peer reviews of other geologist’s reports for spelling, grammar and scientific accuracy. Schedule and conduct client meetings to deliver and/or present final reports and to consult on any questions that may be put forward. Continue to engage in self-directed and employer supported learning/training to remain knowledgeable in all lab analyses and processes and to be familiar with recent industry advancements. Continually develop understanding of all products and services offered by the department in order to answer client’s technical questions to the best of his/her ability. Undertake any additional projects or responsibilities assigned by supervisor or senior management that may contribute to the success of the company. Education and/or Work ExperienceRequirements: Undergraduate degree in Geology, Geophysics or related Earth Science. Must be, or working towards, a P. Geo. in good standing with APEGA or other governing body in Canada. Working knowledge of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. Minimum five to ten (5-10) years professional experience, with specific focus on thin section petrography, core description/interpretation and data analytics.
