Job Description

Thanks to an expanding project portfolio Mott MacDonald Canada has a new opportunity for a Tunnel Engineer to join our dynamic and growing team working on iconic infrastructural projects, locally, nationally, and globally, specifically working on the Calgary Green Line Project.

As a Tunnel Engineer on the Green Line Project, you will be responsible for:

  • Working directly with the Green Line Tunnel Project Director
  • Assistance with management of all aspects of the Green Line Tunnel Project including:
    • Coordination of design development and delivery, including interfacing with subject matter experts
    • Review of plans and data from site investigation and instrumentation and monitoring programs
    • Project cost control and schedule management
    • Acting as part of a team of professionals and interfacing with many disciplines
    • Assisting in the coordination of work among other engineers, contractors and design staff
  • Your role may also include assisting with project commercial management, and proposal delivery
  • You will be able to express the contribution of your work in the context of social outcomes
  • For your longer-term career development, beyond the Green Line Project we can offer a number of paths, including technical leadership, staff resource management, and client engagement


Candidate Specifications:

  • Bachelor's in Structural, Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (a Master’s degree would be considered an asset)

  • 5-10 years of relevant tunnel industry / project experience. Experience in the transportation sector would be considered an asset

  • Professional engineering designation (P. Eng) with APEGA would be considered an asset

  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills; able to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff and clients and nurture the development of junior staff

  • Experience in developing innovative underground structure solutions using current design standards and guidelines

  • Experience of the implementation or construction of design solutions on construction sites and construction change management

  • Ability and enthusiasm for supervising the work of others

  • Gained project management skills and demonstrable technical lead and collaborative capabilities

  • Technical and interdisciplinary coordination skills
