We are currently seeking a qualified to join our Project Engineer Mining team, based out of Toronto, ON. The Project Engineer will be responsible for providing technical leadership to engineering disciplines on projects to ensure work plans are developed and followed consistently with the Project Execution Plan, Project Job Instructions; and project goals for quality, health, safety, environment, regulatory, schedule and cost are achieved. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating all aspects of engineering work on assigned projects.
  • Engineering and discipline project design activities relating to concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility studies, EPCM and EPC projects.
  • Manages engineering teams in projects and across large studies with a project delivery focus.
  • Provides operational day-to-day leadership, support and coordination with Lead Discipline Engineers for arriving at responsible decisions/outcomes on engineering matters for the project, or assigned portion of the project, as required.
  • Defines and controls engineering work scope for the project or assigned portion of work based on Contract Documents.
  • Supplies technical and general guidance on engineering-related matters.
  • Receives operational and day-to-day direction from the Project Engineering Manager and directs engineering disciplines as required.
  • Maintains contact with Engineering Management, procurement, project controls and construction and coordinates information between all parties.
  • Maintains contact and coordination with the client, Vendors/Suppliers, Process Licensors, project/jobsite personnel, and Regulatory Agencies on engineering matters.
  • Responsible for Engineering contributions to the health, safety, environmental and quality objectives of the project.

Qualifications

  • University graduate in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years progressive work experience, preferably in project engineering but may include other relevant types of engineering experience including engineering operations in large industrial plants, process plants or engineering/construction firms.
  • Previous experience with Emissions Reduction, Gas Cleaning, Carbon Capture, and/or Sulfuric Acid required.
  • Professional Engineering Designation (P. Eng) in the Province of Ontario, eligible for Licensure in the Province of Ontario. Current P. Eng is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of Change Management.
  • Previous experience within the Heavy Industrial/Mining and Metallurgy, EPC/EPCM environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership within a multi-discipline project setting.
  • Strong in interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills.
