As a technical leader, you will emphasize excellence, work closely with the technical design team on all types of distribution projects and programs, and provide the necessary technical leadership required to deliver projects that meet and exceed client expectations.Your Key ResponsibilitiesUnderstand and ensure that client expectations related to project scope are met and exceededEstablish and maintain positive internal and external stakeholder relationshipsDevelop project planning documents and client progress reportsSupport development of proposals, project cost estimates and project schedulesCoordination and/or facilitation of key meetings or review points: project kick-off meetings, IFR/IFC review, constructability review, construction kick-off, etc. and following all action items through to completionProvide proactive project change, risk and stakeholder management supportAct as the primary technical interface for the projects and provide advice and guidance to the engineering disciplinesEnsure procurement packages are produced in accordance with project cost, schedule and quality requirementsReview of project documentation and perform Engineer of Record duties (specifications, IFR/IFC drawings, designs, equipment lists, labor estimates, etc.) prior to issue for accuracy, completeness and presentationApply proactive and effective communication with key stakeholdersApply knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to resolve complex issues where precedent may be limitedConstruction support activitiesSite travel is expected, and position will require travel to site 1 - 2 days / monthQualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsRegistered Professional Engineer or Engineering LicenseeExcellent organizational and communication (written and oral) skills are critical for this roleGenuine team player who will encourage teamwork with the project team and with other discipline staffAbility to provide strong technical and problem-solving skillsIn depth knowledge of overhead and underground distribution systems, streetlight design, capital and maintenance projects, and customer new connect projects will be requiredResponsible for multiple projects, and be able to carry out multiple tasks within each projectHigh level of initiative and ability to complete tasks on schedule and budgetAbility to challenge specifications and non-optimal designs and provide value added alternativesFocused on continuous improvement and providing quality services to our customers in a timely mannerKnowledge of project management principles and processesExperience in project controls and scheduling is considered an assetWorking knowledge of applicable industry, national, and provincial codes and standardsProficiency with SAP, GIS tools, Bluebeam, AGI 32, Pull PlannerValid Driver’s LicenseExperience & Background:Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a technical school diploma/certificate, with a minimum of 7 years’ experiencePrevious Distribution Design experience with SaskPower or similar utility within CanadaStantec offers a flexible work environment (a hybrid model of working in the office and at home).Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
