Project EngineerWe are seeking an experienced Project Engineer with specialized expertise in hypoid gear manufacturing and mechanical assembly processes to lead our production optimization efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in gear manufacturing, with a focus on hypoid gears, as well as demonstrated experience in assembly operations. Join our team and help shape the future of gear manufacturing and assembly.Powering Vehicles, Motion, Work, and Lives since 1966.Performance Expectations:Implement assembly processes for a new program, pursuing solutions to streamline workflows, reduce cycle times, and enhance overall efficiency.Utilize extensive knowledge of hypoid gear manufacturing processes, including hobbing, shaping, grinding, and heat treatment, to optimize production efficiency and quality.Develop and implement quality control measures for both gear manufacturing and assembly processes, ensuring that products meet specified standards and customer requirements.Collaborate with the engineering team to select proper machinery and equipment for gear manufacturing and assembly operations. Oversee maintenance activities to ensure optimal performance and reliability of equipment.Lead continuous improvement initiatives to identify and eliminate bottlenecks, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity in gear manufacturing and assembly processes.Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, production, quality assurance, and supply chain, to address issues, implement solutions, and achieve organizational goals.Maintain accurate documentation of process parameters, equipment specifications, quality control measures, and assembly procedures. Generate reports to track key performance indicators and provide insights for decision-making.Provide training and guidance to production personnel on best practices for gear manufacturing and assembly processes, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and assembly specifications.Credentials:Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.Minimum of 3 years of experience in process engineering in a high-volume manufacturing environment.Proven expertise in assembly operations.Gear manufacturing experience an asset.Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools.Experience with CAD/CAM software for gear design and assembly layout (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).Demonstrated record of successfully implementing process improvements and achieving measurable results.Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and methodologies.Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to gear manufacturing and assembly (e.g., AGMA standards).Certification in Six Sigma or other relevant quality management methodologies is a plus.Desired Characteristics:Experience with automated assembly systems and robotics.Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for production planning and inventory management.Background in metallurgy and materials science.Previous experience in the automotive, aerospace, or heavy machinery industries.Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive change.What Linamar has to OfferInclusive Culture: Join a team that celebrates diversity and encourages collaboration.
