We are looking for a Project Accounting Manager who is adaptable and focused for their Vancouver location.Reporting to the Director, Project Finance & Accounting, the candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial aspects of all real estate development projects. Your primary focus will be to ensure accurate project accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical abilities, and effective communication skills as you will be required to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support the successful development of various real estate projects.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Oversight:Oversee all financial aspects of assigned projects. Develop, monitor, and maintain project budgets in alignment with company objectives and financial guidelines.Analyze project financial data, providing insights and recommendations to optimize project profitability.Conduct regular financial reviews to identify potential risks and opportunities, implementing corrective measures as needed.Project ReportingPrepare timely and accurate financial reports, including variance analysis and cost projections, for internal stakeholders and senior management. Collaborate with project teams to track and report on financial performance against established budgets and benchmarks.Budgeting And ForecastingCollaborate with project managers to develop project budgets and forecasts. Provide financial expertise and guidance to ensure realistic budgeting and accurate financial projections.Project ComplianceEnsure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.Cross-functional CollaborationWork closely with project managers, construction teams, and other departments to ensure financial objectives are met and financial processes are streamlined.Provide guidance and support to teams regarding financial procedures, policies, and compliance requirements.Process ImprovementContinuously evaluate and improve project accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency. Implement best practices for cost control, financial management, and reporting standards across projects.Team LeadershipLead and mentor a team of project accountants, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to foster professional development and ensure a high level of performance. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting knowledge sharing and professional growth.Skills And QualificationsBachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) or equivalent certification is preferred.Proven experience (5+ years) as a Project Accountant or in a similar role, preferably in a complex project-based environmentStrong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations (GAAP).Proficient in financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Yardi) and advanced Excel skills.Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends and patterns.Detail-oriented mindset with a high degree of accuracy and thoroughness in work.Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.Effective communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.Proven leadership abilities and experience in mentoring and developing junior team members.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and delivering accurate results.
