L6M2Y1 The Program & Special Projects Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing, select programs, special projects and initiatives in accordance with workplan goals and budgets. These include, but are not limited to: Kamajiit Program, Christmas Program, Messy Book Program Evaluation project, youth training events and art-based camps. The position requires strong effective communication skills, the ability to build connections and engage with youth, guest artists, local partners and other stakeholders. Skills in team leadership are essential with a focus on how to motivate, energize and engage youth staff and participants through a focused process. The incumbent will be self-motivated, results-oriented, with strong initiative, ability to work both independently and in a team. Employment Type

Duties

PROGRAM COORDINATION Promotes, Monitors and Reports on Program, Special Project and Initiatives Delivery a. Creates and posts approved social media posts, posters, flyers. b. Complies and maintains monthly statistics: program, special projects and initiatives c. Funder reports, program monitoring, special event plans, assist in proposal writing d. Coordination lead for Messy Book program evaluation project. e. Coordination lead for the Kamajiit, and Christmas Food Program f. Assists and coordinates other program, special projects and initiatives as required. g. supports stakeholder relationship building and partnership development Staff Supervision a. Schedule, supervise local Kamajiit Youth Support Assistants, b. Support recruitment, training of part time program staff, including camp staff as required c. Work with management to implement the ongoing coaching and development of the ARF youth team, lead youth engagement initiatives. Coordinates Travel, Training, Guest Artist Session. a. Books facilities or virtual spaces, coordinates travel and sends out materials for training, meetings, arranges catering b. Scheduling, coordinating travel, and logistics for in person community Guest Artist sessions, including sending out tutorials and supplies to program sites in advance c. Coordination of team meetings or mentoring sessions. Inventory and supplies. a. 0rganize logistics, prepare and ship art supplies, art kits, hygiene kits, food hampers b. Liaise with Program Manager to order program supplies and materials c. Coordinates food hamper purchase and delivery in collaboration with local partners General Responsibilities a. Integrates Inuit and Indigenous culture in services provided. b. Ensures culturally cognizant approach in program, special project &initiatives delivery. c. Carries out all administration requirements integral to the successful coordination and delivery of assigned ARF Programs, Special Projects and Initiatives. d. Participates in regular staff meetings as required e. Assists with any other administrative or program tasks as assigned by the ED. f. Adheres to all Arctic Rose Foundation policies and procedures

Qualifications

• Post-secondary certification and/or high school diploma with relevant work experience. • Post secondary in recreation, child and youth work, education an asset. • Minimum of one-year program coordination experience • Experience working with Inuit and Indigenous communities. • Experience working with children and youth. • Experience working in Northern, rural, remote communities is an asset. • Ability to communicate effectively in English • Ability to communicate in Inuktitut or another Indigenous language is an asset. • Ability to coordinate multiple assignments independently and triage priorities • Organized, efficient, accurate, creative, and able to take initiative. • Ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail. • Data analysis, excellent judgement and discretion in handling sensitive data and confidential information • Proficient computer skills, experience with relevant software such as Microsoft Office and virtual meeting software ie zoom, Microsoft teams. • Strong team-work skills with ability to work collaboratively • Utilizes a culturally cognizant approach. • Knowledge and understanding of the history, inequities, barriers, and socio-economic determinants of health that impact youth mental health and wellbeing in Indigenous communities. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to nurture trusting, open, kind-hearted relationships that encourage learning and participation.

• one year contract (37.5 hrs a week) with three-month probationary period • successful applicant is based in Ottawa, working from home and designated locations in Ottawa, as determined by program needs. • travel required to remote northern communities in Nunavut, Northwest Territories and Ontario • successful completion of a vulnerable sector check • proof of up-to-date vaccinations • access to stable internet from home is required. • Valid driver’s license, access to a car is an asset. • occasional evening and weekend work is required.
