Job Description

Reporting to the Associate Dean, Business in the School of Media, Business and Access, the incumbent facilitates the delivery of a range of courses in the Business programs onsite at the Belleville campus. The incumbent will incorporate a variety of teaching, learning and assessment strategies to meet the needs of learners. The incumbent will also participate in research and scholarship initiatives. In addition, the Professor will have the opportunity to provide academic leadership in the coordination of courses and/or programs in accordance with the collective agreement and College procedures.Implements a range of delivery strategies, which complements the varied learning styles represented in a current college classroom and encourages a cooperative learning climate, incorporating evidence-based practice and best practice guidelinesDevelops and implements course learning outcomes and assessment strategies, ensuring program goals are reflectedEnhances and defines cluster-based programming within the Business program Defines, evaluates, and validates learning outcomes for courses and programs, ensuring that students are aware of relevant learning outcomes, strategies, and assessment techniquesSupports student progress in assigned courses through individual tutorial and academic counselingEngages in ongoing faculty development opportunities and effectively liaises with colleagues and other College and community and industry partners to maintain a collaborative and relevant learning environmentContributes to program development by participating in the Provincial Program Review processesAssists in program awareness and program recruitment activitiesAssists with the creation and supervision of student field placements as assignedIncorporates appropriate technological tools that support the learning environmentA relevant combination of education and experience normally acquired through a degree in Business with 5 years’ recent, relevant and progressive industry experience (mid to senior roles) and 5 years recent and relevant post-secondary teaching experience. A master’s degree in business considered an assetKnowledge of current programming within the Business program as well as potential programs based on industry demand, community engagement, and global market forecastsDemonstrated ability to collaborate across various program disciplinesA demonstrated ability to create a safe and inclusive space that meets the learning needs of a diverse student populationA demonstrated ability to develop and deliver innovative and engaging learning activitiesA demonstrated understanding of the principles of adult learning along with experience teaching adult learners and developing curriculum; previous teaching experience particularly in the college environment is an assetA demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative environment as evidenced through a strong network of contacts with other professionals, agencies, and employersComputer literacy and a willingness to learn and utilize learning tools (such as Canvas) employed at the college to enhance student success
