Our Canadian client in one of the leading manufacturers of heavy metal part products in North America. The Production Supervisor is critical in driving operational excellence and profitability throughout plant operations. The position is responsible for managing groups of employees in a department, planning for production requirements, maintaining production goals, implementing manufacturing processes and continuous improvement initiatives; ensuring safety requirements are met and maintained as well as overseeing departmental inventory levels. The ideal candidate is a team player, focused on people development and performance of the operation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
In charge of all production, personnel, quality and safety requirements on the shift
Provide leadership to all leads and employees on the shift
Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities of the plant
Train and evaluate employees in job duties, safety procedures and company policies
Investigate and deal with personnel issues. Administer progressive disciplinary action when necessary
Maintain a safe working environment and ensure all safety rules are followed
Prepare reports on status of established KPIs and champion production-related continuous improvement projects
Lead and participate in Kaizen events to ensure continuous improvement goals are being achieved
Resolve production errors and disputes
Prepare production and other reports where required
Attend and contribute to production meetings
Undertake projects as assigned by the Production Manager to improve plant processes
Maintain professional behavior in all dealings with employees, colleagues and other departments
The Ideal Candidate:
5+ years of experience as a Production Supervisor in a manufacturing environment with a preference given to those with industrial manufacturing experience
University degree or college diploma in Engineering/Operations Management or similar field
Demonstrate strong leadership, problem solving, coaching, technical skills and interpersonal skills
Experience managing inbound outbound logistics would be an asset
Experience implementing continuous improvement efforts, including but not limited to Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma is preferred
Must possess good verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical ability and detail orientation
Experience in dealing with personnel issues including coaching, discipline, and health/safety compliance
Ability to influence others and effectively work in a team
Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel
