Production Supervisor
36 months position
The Production Supervisor in Lethbridge, Alberta is responsible for overseeing daily plant operations in the production and milk receiving areas ensuring department productivity and quality standards are achieved. This position is also responsible for the individual performance of all production employees (15-20 direct reports) and has disciplinary authority within this department. The Production Supervisor also participates to maintain the requirements on food safety, quality and security. The Production Supervisor is an active member of the site's Food Safety team and Health and Safety Committee.
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for effective supervision of production employees through positive leadership. This will be done through motivation, consistent communication, follow-up, coaching and consistent application of all policies and procedures, fostering positive climate of teamwork, supporting the training and development of employees, ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures.
- Handle all production scheduling as it relates to staffing which includes daily line assignments, employee training, vacations, overtime assignments and modifying schedules due to unplanned absences.
- Coordinate production start ups, shutdowns and changeovers
- Assist lead hands, cheese makers, operators and maintenance department to ensure minimal downtime
- Establish a culture of continuous improvement
Required experience/education
- Training or education- specific to production in a food plant, preferably dairy
- Technical understanding of production and packaging equipment
- 3-5 years supervisory experience
- Experience in dairy processing industry
- Knowledge of micro-computing
- Excellent communication, organization and planning skills
- Mechanical aptitude and be willing to work a variety of shifts including coverage of other departments
- Computer literacy, ideally with MS Office (Word and Excel), and Lotus Notes; and SAP.
- Knowledge of quality assurance systems (HACCP and SQF), an asset.
- Thorough knowledge of Dairy operations with particular emphasis on processing, sanitation, and product quality;
- Prior experience in Quality Control and/or Operations within the Dairy, beverage or food processing industry.
The Production Supervisor will work 7 shifts every two weeks(2-2-3 scheduled). Scheduled weekly hours: 40

Salary Range: $72,900-$90,000 with bonus potential
