Job Description:

Sun Life’s Wealth and Insurance Client Solution Centre (WICA) strives to deepen relationships with members, helping them to become Clients for Life. WICA supports the needs of transitioning all Sun Life Clients by determining the right wealth and insurance solutions through all stages of life. WICA also builds relationships with clients and cultivates client satisfaction and loyalty by pro-actively engaging with them.

As the Product Owner, you will focus on building relationships and collaborating with stakeholders and business partners to determine the high impact work to be prioritized. By aligning work with Outcomes (OKR), you will support strategy and additional data-based decision-making.  The Product Owner will also guide and motivate the delivery team by ensuring the appropriate goals and success criteria are communicated, oversee product delivery, and ensure alignment with the roadmap.

What will you do?

Lead the data-analytics intake process and ensure the outcomes and success criteria from Business partners are clear, understood and communicated with the delivery teams (Business Intelligence, Analytical Research, Data Science)

Ability to articulate benefits and desired outcomes for Data-Analytics related initiatives

Prioritize, manage, and explain backlog ensuring that workload is aligned with OKRs and intended outcomes

Manage the delivery of Work in Progress (WIP) so that we maintain consistency and balance

Be the foundation of the agile team, focusing on high value work to help drive data-based decision making and strategy

Lead the team through agile ceremonies including demonstrations, refinement, and review

Act as the voice of the client in the definition of product, own all outcomes and incorporate feedback from business partners and research

Act as an advocate for the business and client experience by owning issues and outcomes as they move the roadmap forward to completion

What do you need?

Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience in Business Intelligence and Analytics is required with an understanding of financial services (i.e., wealth and insurance), including Group Benefits, Individual Insurance and Investments and Group Retirement Services businesses

Demonstrated knowledge of agile methodologies and experience in leading an agile delivery team (Kanban and SAFe in particular)

Skilled in change management (e.g. ADKAR) and experienced in Design Thinking methodologies

Strong collaboration skills and working with Cross-Business Unit partners to ensure roadmap alignment and delivery of desired capabilities

Strong stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills with a proven track record of fostering a culture of trust, transparency, and collaboration

Great written and verbal communications skills

Excellent problem-solving skills to analyze options, understand compromises and decide on the best approach

Analytical skills to develop or leverage reporting tools to measure performance of capabilities delivered

Inquisitive and constant learning mind-set

  • You must be eligible for the enhanced reliability clearance

Knowledge of Tableau and Salesforce.com is an asset

Knowledge of AWS is an asset

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
