Job Responsibilities: Conceptualize and propose designs for both exterior and interior mechanical lighting systems for locomotives and rail passenger vehicles. Utilize SolidWorks to generate detailed 3D models, General Assemblies, and fabrication drawings. Produce product renderings using programs such as Keyshot for use in product proposals. Provide and create detailed product specification sheets using InDesign. Execute intricate 3D designs, drawings, and bills of materials. Incorporate feedback from internal stakeholders and customers to refine designs and drawings. Engineer innovative solutions that not only meet but exceed customer expectations, while ensuring cost-effectiveness. Maintain comprehensive project design records and files in adherence to TDG procedures. Establish and uphold an organized filing system for all CAD files. Ensure adherence to project timelines and schedules. Requirements and Qualifications: 3-5 years of experience in Mechanical Design. Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks (essential), CATIA, Inventor, or Pro-E. Advanced skills in SolidWorks for surface modeling are highly desirable. Familiarity with various manufacturing processes including CNC Machining, Sheet Metal, Metal & Plastic Extrusion, Diecasting, Injection Moulding, GRP/FRP, and 3D Printing. Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Basic understanding of electronics and PCBs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Experience with InDesign and Adobe Suite software. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are advantageous. Strong organizational, communication, and planning abilities. Attention to detail and accuracy. Punctuality, autonomy, and problem-solving skills. Flexibility, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset. Creative and analytical thinking. Results-oriented with a proven track record in design-for-manufacturability. Interpersonal strengths, capable of working both independently and as part of a team. Must be able to travel to other TDG sites and customer sites for meetings.
