Job Description

Job Summary: The Material Planner is responsible for efficiently managing the supply chain by ensuring that the right materials are available at the right time and in the right quantities to meet production demands. The role involves coordination with various departments and suppliers to optimize inventory levels and maintain a smooth production flow. Job Responsibilities: Collaborate with production and sales teams to forecast material requirements based on production schedules and customer orders. Maintain optimal inventory levels to meet production needs while minimizing excess or obsolete stock. Monitor inventory turns and adjust ordering parameters accordingly. Interact with Production Control to ensure Bill of Materials (BOM) are accurate and up to date. Review and audit BOM’s to ensure they reflect the latest manufacturing practices. Generate purchase orders for raw materials, components, and finished goods based on production plans and inventory levels. Ensure timely and accurate communication with suppliers regarding order requirements. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable and timely deliveries. Monitor and expedite shipments to ensure timely receipt of materials. Communicate with suppliers to address any delays or issues affecting the supply chain. Work closely with production planners to align material availability with production schedules. Adjust plans as needed to accommodate changes in production requirements. Identify potential supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions. Monitor market trends and external factors that may impact the availability or cost of materials. Job Qualifications: College Diploma in a relevant field such as Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related discipline. High school diploma with relevant work experience will also be considered. A few years of relevant work experience in material planning, supply chain management, or a related field. Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for analyzing data, making forecasts, and optimizing inventory levels. Effective communication skills are crucial for collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders. Negotiation skills are valuable for managing relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and optimizing procurement processes. Experience in project management can be beneficial for coordinating and implementing process improvements within the material planning function.
