Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Process Engineer will take responsibility for the design of processes throughout the business. The Process Engineer is expected to pro-actively identify where processes can be adapted and optimized to ensure cost effectiveness. Throughout the process development, the Process Engineer will verify practices for efficiency and accuracy in order to ensure safety and improved quality. The Process Engineer must possess the capabilities to drive the requirements into the development and continuous improvement of products and processes. Specifically, the Process Engineer's duties will include:

  1. Developing an in-depth knowledge of our supply base; strengths and weaknesses of internal procedures and business processes; strengths and weaknesses of equipment; and the strengths and weaknesses of key personnel who contribute to the quality of the products and services offered by the organization.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSc Engineering Degree
  • Knowledge of metallurgy and/or Aluminium presses is an asset
  • Knowledge of chemicals and environmental controls is an asset
  • Experience with key Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma concepts including PFMEA, root cause analysis, Value stream mapping
  • Strong, demonstrated project management skills
  • Proficient in computers including MS Office platforms
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, uncertainty and changing priorities

Technical Skills/Competence

  • Self-starter requiring minimal supervision to accomplish assigned tasks
  • Able to perform in a team environment with a broad cross section of people capabilities and roles
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to solve problems at a root cause level, and determine corrective actions necessary to sustain improvements
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of the POSITION are detailed below, but not limited to the following:

  1. Optimizing production rates and yields of production equipment including extrusion presses
  2. Optimizing equipment availability and performance, ensure downtime is investigated and addressed
  3. Manage the technical aspects of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process
  4. Process ownership to establish and upkeep of product recipes including special work instructions
  5. Conduct Product trials including coaching Production crews
