ERM is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Archaeologist to join our global consulting firm as part of our archaeology and cultural heritage team in Vancouver or Smithers, BC. The successful candidate will provide technical assistance for archaeological desk-based studies and be the field lead for studies within British Columbia and northern Canada. The successful candidate will work with our team to complete field investigations, data processing and reporting tasks for archaeological assessments. This is a permanent fulltime, position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee field studies and manage subcontractors, lead field reconnaissance, field surveys, and excavation for archaeological studies.
  • Conduct research and writing for archaeological and cultural heritage assessments.
  • Perform literature review, artifact analysis and cataloguing.
  • Provide technical consulting skills to support the growth of ERM’s business and client base in the area of archaeology and cultural heritage, specifically in Eastern Canada.
  • Interact with other ERM service areas to share multi-disciplinary resources and best practices across the country.
  • Represent ERM through communications and at meetings with provincial/territorial and federal agencies.
  • Communicate regularly with clients via email, phone conferences, and in person.
  • Preparing reports to meet client needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in Archaeology or Anthropology or related field (with a focus in archaeology)
  • Field Director or Permit holder in British Columbia.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry research to completion.
  • Excellent communication and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated business development abilities.
  • Ability to work within a team as well as independently.
  • Travel will be required.
  • Valid Driver’s License a plus.

For the Principal Consultant, Archaeologist position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $112,000 – $133,860 CAD. An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above. This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.
