Job Description

Venor is pleased to partner with our client Kainos in their search for a Principal Delivery Manager.

At Kainos, you’ll have the opportunity to transcend limitations and make a significant, immediate impact. Whether transforming digital services for millions of citizens or helping Fortune 500 companies successfully implement and thrive on Workday, your work will matter. With a people-first culture and a global presence, Kainos fosters a team-oriented, diverse environment where everyone’s ideas are heard and valued.

Roles and Responsibilities:

As a Principal Delivery Director at Kainos, you will be responsible for leading the delivery capability within the Digital Services business unit, collaborating closely with delivery managers to ensure the successful and efficient execution of multiple engagements across an account portfolio.

You will empower and support Kainos teams to excel, learn, and grow in alignment with our company values. Additionally, you will oversee and support Customer Success, fostering client relationships as a trusted advisor to solve business challenges through digital delivery. Your efforts will enhance our delivery success across engagements, contributing to winning new business with existing customers. In this senior management role, you will also take on additional management responsibilities for Kainos as needed.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 years of demonstrable success managing the delivery of technology-based projects using agile methodologies.
  • Substantial experience in managing and leading project teams, including line management responsibility.
  • Experience developing and managing sound client-supplier relationships and good knowledge of at least one industry vertical (e.g. Financial Services, Health, or Government).
  • Broad technology experience including an awareness of current technology trends and a solid understanding of contemporary software engineering practices and behaviours.
  • Proven experience in taking responsibility for contract and commercial terms on projects.
  • Experience in adhering to robust project governance and technical quality standards.
  • The ability to make important decisions under pressure, taking a balanced view of client demands, Kainos commercial interests, and the impact on the Kainos team.
  • A strong commercial awareness and understanding of project dynamics, particularly in a multi-supplier environment.
  • A personable, credible, and skilled communicator, communicating effectively with clients and colleagues, including delivering formal presentations, coupled with excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • A team player capable of delivering results in less-than-perfect circumstances.
  • A non-confrontational, but mature and firm communication style.
  • A highly flexible individual (including a willingness to work away from home base).
  • A positive attitude to overcoming the challenges facing our clients, and the vision and drive to experiment and deliver ‘firsts’.
  • A demonstrated ability in managing, coaching, and developing senior members of your team and the wider community.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Proven experience in project delivery aimed at digital transformation.
  • Experience in managing large-scale agile projects involving distributed teams in a multi-supplier environment.
  • Experience in user research, analytics, and design disciplines and their contribution to the effective delivery of digital services and platforms.
  • Experience securing significant repeat business with an existing client.
  • Experience innovating or leading initiatives that improve management and leadership practices within an organization.
  • A recognized “thought leader” in the public domain.
  • Project or Program Management certification (PMP).
