Job Description

Notice of Ministry Position (Clergy)
Diocese of Eastern Newfoundland & Labrador

Parish of St. Luke’s, Port de Grave and St. Mark’s, Shearstown/Butlerville, NL Canada

The Rt. Rev. Samuel Rose is accepting applications for the position of Priest-in-Charge (Rector). This position is full-time with accommodation provided by a Housing Allowance.

Shared Model of Ministry

Unlike a Traditional Multi-Point Parish which involves amalgamation (pooling of assessment, Parish Council, Weekly Worship with a common cleric at alternate times, etc.), a Shared Model is built and supported by two or more parishes/churches with a common cleric while maintaining their individual identities. A Shared Model supports each other and is missional in its approach to ministry.

This position has been developed and a Shared Ministry Contract has been signed by the said two parishes. Both parishes have strong lay leadership which will aid in the administrative, liturgical, and outreach ministries of each parish.

This model of ministry has worked extremely well in the past and both parishes are happy to continue this model with a new Priest-in-Charge.

Details of the Shared Ministry Model

Both parishes cost-share the stipend/expenses, worship schedule, and pastoral presence based on the following percentages: St. Luke’s 50%, and St. Mark’s 50%.

Each parish is responsible for its expenses (Synod Assessment, Parish Expenses, and Maintenance)

The effective start date is September 1, 2024 (negotiable)

Parish Profiles are being developed and available upon request.

How to Apply:

Clergy that are interested in applying are asked to submit their Resume with at least three references via email to: bishop@anglicanenl.net

Clergy from other dioceses are required to have the permission of their own diocesan bishop before applying.

Applications will be received up until noon Thursday, June 20, 2024

For more information please contact Church House at 1 (709) 576-6697 asking for Bishop Rose or the Executive Officer, Archdeacon Charlene Taylor.
