Reporting to the Director of Engineering at our Markham location, the successful candidate will be responsible for improving, designing, prototyping, testing, and documenting our patented high speed fault detection technology for our high-voltage DC power distribution systems. You will collaborate closely with other engineers on our team to ensure that designs are both elegant and efficient. You will also be exposed to our other hardware projects including wireless sensor networks, mesh networking hubs, and battery optimized power management systems, and other DC power conversion systems.  Learn more about our fault-managed high voltage power distribution system here:  https://www.cencepower.com/ecosystem/hv-power-supplies  https://www.cencepower.com/blog-posts/5g-das  https://www.cencepower.com/blog-posts/telecom-rectifiers  Key Responsibilities: Power Electronics - Schematic and PCB design using KiCAD Assemble, solder, and test prototype PCBs BOM optimization, component selection, and datasheet analysis In-circuit testing (ICT) and Functional testing (FCT) of PCB’s Verify product specifications and Design Validation Plan Circuit simulation using TI WebBench and other simulation software Work with other firmware engineers to define system architecture of our products Rapid prototyping and validation of electrical designs Optimizing designs for power, miniaturization, and cost Stay up to date with latest innovations and trends that are relevant to the company, and the field of DC power distribution Provide technical support during production: troubleshoot production rejects and field returns, support and/or initiate continuous improvement, design, validate and maintain high volume functional testers for production use, etc. Liaise with manufacturers overseas as well as in Canada for mass production Occasionally participate in customer deployments Qualifications Experience as a professional hardware design engineer (Preference given to those with 5+ years) Experience with Power Electronics, specifically with DC-DC conversion topologies (5+ years) Experience using Oscilloscopes and other debugging tools Experience with RF design; EMI, EMC, and antennas (1+ years) Experience managing the full life cycle of a design project, from development to production release Extensive experience with digital/analog circuit design and PCB layout design; Experience with circuit protection design, products and methods. Experience with designing for manufacturability, scalability and longevity Technical report writing and drawing, writing technical documentation and sequence diagrams Understanding of design for certifiability to standards such as CSA and UL Strong analytical, problem solving, and leadership capabilities Ability to contribute and work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills.   You Will Stand out If: You have experience with embedded firmware programming C/C++ You have experience using Git or other version control systems for hardware Master's Degree or Ph.D in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience Job Types: Full-time, Permanent and on site  What We Offer  Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 (based on experience) Health Spending Account Cence is an equal opportunity employer and is dedicated to creating a diverse and inclusive work environment.
