Power Electrical Engineer
Summary of responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Chief of the Electrical Engineering Department, the incumbent will be part of the team dedicated to the design and development of mining projects. More specifically, the Power Electrical Engineer will be called upon to:
- Prepare detailed engineering documentation for generation, transmission, and high and medium voltage generation systems.
- Create one-line diagrams, equipment specifications and control diagrams related to electrical networks, as well as calculation notes and reports.
- Prepare detailed layout plans for an electrical substation.
- Know the connection request process of electricity suppliers such as Hydro-Québec and HydroOne.
- Prepare protection and coordination studies for high and medium voltage equipment.
- Coordinate the execution of electrical work on construction sites and ensure the application of the quality plan.
- Monitor and verify the installation, modification, testing and operation of electrical systems and equipment.
Requirements
The ideal candidate must:
- Have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
- Have a minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience.
- Be able to communicate in French and/or English, both speaking and writing.
- Have a good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Autocad.
- Experience in the open-pit and underground mining sector as well as international experience are important assets.
- Knowledge of electrical studies such as short circuits, coordination and protection and electrical arcs are important assets.
- Knowledge of the software Etap is an important asset.

Additional information
- The position will be based at the G Mining Services office in Brossard
- Possibility of working in hybrid mode (office and remote work)
- Possibility of travelling abroad and in Canada depending on the availability of the candidate
