Policy Analyst

Employment Posting – 1-year Contract with the possibility of an extension

(Beaverhouse Band Members and Internal Candidates will be given priority)

Following the Mission Statement of the Beaverhouse First Nation Band Office, we are seeking a dedicated and energetic individual who will work with a dynamic team to perform the following duties:

· The Policy Analyst will be responsible for ensuring that the Chief, Council and the Band Administration have the necessary governance and policy tools needed to operate effectively, transparently, and in an accountable manner.

· Coordinate with the development of core governance laws and policies based on the goals and objectives, of the Chief and Council. Create policy proposals, including drafting policy documents, briefing papers, reports and presentations.

· The Policy Analyst will regularly engage with members, staff and the leadership team of Beaverhouse First Nation to ensure that the policy tools reflect the guidance of the community.

· Regular evaluation of existing policies, programs, laws and initiatives to identify gaps, inefficiencies and areas for improvement. Conduct policy analysis and provide recommendations with the appropriate supporting documentation.

· As directed, attending internal meetings of the Chief and Council, the Operations Management Team and/or other relevant tables to update and raise awareness of any issues that may impact Beaverhouse First Nation.

· Collect and store data in an efficient, organized, and confidential manner and input documentation as required.

· Prepare an annual work plan detailing goals, projects and timelines for activities that align with the organization’s strategic direction.

· Ability to work in a complex work environment and be able to maintain composure in challenging situations and use a positive problem-solving approach to achieve desired results; and,

· High level of personal integrity, confidentiality and discretion.

Required Qualifications:

· Post Secondary degree in political, technical, or social sciences, humanities, public policy, environmental or municipal administration.

· Experience in the development of legislation, regulation and policy, preferably within a First Nations provincial/territorial organization or First Nations administration.

· Candidates must have 2-3 years experience in conducting research, analyzing information and policy.

Assets:

· Ability to articulate verbally and in writing complex information and ideas.

· Must be able to respect confidentiality and make sound decisions.

· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as required.

· Valid G Driver’s License and reliable Vehicle.

· Results of a current Criminal Reference Check.

Salary:

Based on education and experience

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
