Job Description

ResponsibilitiesDevelop a vision/strategy for the site within the market and legal framework for present and future operations. Propose and implement the annual business plan in alignment with Yara’s business strategies. All aspects of safety including short and long term plans for improvements in occupational health and safety, process safety, and environmental stewardship. Prioritize and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and Yara internal governance and policies. Establish site specific policies and procedures based on the framework set by the Yara Steering System to prevent accidents and emissions to the environment, guaranteeing it is being supported by adequate organization and proper tools. Ensure adherence to product quality standards in line with certified quality systems. Aim to achieve excellence and continuous improvement in the overall site operation (production, inspection, maintenance, etc). Champion programs such as Better Together, YPS and other relevant initiatives for the production site. Meet annual volumes and fixed cost targets by ensuring reliable and systematic operations (Yara way of working). Analyze the need for investments and propose and implement projects in adherence to the Capital Value Process. Collaborate with other production facilities and Yara entities and share best practices and initiatives to achieve an optimal synergy effect. Be an active player in the Yara America’s and Yara’s global production networks. Ensure good relationship with people managers and employees to create a good climate for engagement, while supporting a performance culture. Promote good social citizenship with external stakeholders such as regulatory bodies, authorities, media, local communities, etc. Leadership Skills Endeavours to hire those who have better skills than themselves, and subsequently dedicates time and efforts into developing their people through coaching, feedback and exposure to increasingly challenging stretch assignments/work. Follow up performance and the development of teams and individuals, ensuring employees clear vision on Yara´s performance culture and values. Role models the behaviors they want to see in the employees. Acts as the CEO of the plant, and duly takes initiative, prioritizes decisions and solutions, and delegates accordingly. Acts based on what is best for Yara as a company. Embodies a learning attitude, by remaining curious, and seeking out all relevant sources of information to fast track their learning in both technical and people related topics, including the “steal with pride” ethos. Encourages and supports those in the plant to do the same. Acknowledges, demonstrates, and encourages balance of work/private life. Personal Skills and Capabilities University degree preferably in a natural science or an engineering subject Relevant experience in site management, production management or project management in the fertilizer or (petro)chemical industry of at least 5 years Proven track record of leadership Strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills.
