About Strescon LimitedEstablished in 1963, Strescon Limited has grown to become the largest precast, pre-stressed concrete manufacturer in Eastern Canada. Its primary market covers the Atlantic Provinces and the New England region of the United States. Strescon manufactures a wide range of both architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products including bridge girders, wall panels, complete parking garages, hollow-core planking, piling and deck slabs. Strescon presently has two facilities: 70,000 sq. ft. in Saint John, New Brunswick and 50,000 sq. ft. In Bedford, Nova Scotia. In addition to our engineered precast facilities for custom components, Strescon also operates a 32,000 sq. ft. facility in Saint John which manufactures standard concrete products for engineered drainage systems, such as pipe, manholes and catch basins.Job SummaryThe Pipe Plant Engineer directs operations within the pipe plant and yard including overall planning and project execution, ensuring schedules are kept and safety processes are adhered to. This role will provide direction to improve the organization’s overall production plans, systems and procedures. Pipe Plant Engineer is responsible for analyzing operations, designing workflows and production processes, reducing inefficiency, and ensuring final products meet established quality standards. This position requires a solid understanding of operations combined with the desire to develop and maintain relationships within a diverse workforce. As training for this position, it is expected that a period of time will be spent in various departments (Sales and Estimating, Project Coordination, Quality Control, etc.) to gain an understanding of operational procedures and processes.ResponsibilitiesOversee planning and execution of all processes within the plant consisting of various concrete pipe productsCreate and manage facilities budgets including internal/external maintenance, tools, and repair/replacement of equipmentContinuously identify opportunities for improvement across all plant operations and ensure functional implementationAssist with preventative maintenance planning and scheduling for equipment and facilityEnsure compliance with regulatory requirementsAssist with form design and form repairs Share knowledge with others to assist in promoting a better-trained workforce Other duties as assignedTechnical RequirementsCivil or Mechanical engineering background required (Degree or diploma from an accredited institution)Previous experience overseeing / managing a plant in a concrete or construction environment is an assetFamiliarity surrounding safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory, and stewardship processesStrong knowledge of production processes and standardsProficiency in programs such as Microsoft Office, Google SketchUp and AutoCAD, with exposure to other engineering related softwareAbility to understand construction drawingsExperience working with unionized employees is an assetBusiness RequirementsStrong critical thinking and problem-solving skillsProvide leadership and positive guidance to employees through constructive communicationExceptional time management, documentation, and organizational skillsDesire to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and customer-focused environmentSocial RequirementsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with individuals of diverse disciplines including various levels of managementA team player with the desire to work collaboratively with others to improve existing processesAs a member of the OSCO Construction Group, Strescon Limited offers a comprehensive compensation package including health and dental coverage, life insurance, RRSP and tax-free savings account options.
