BC Timber Sales (BCTS) works with regional and district operations to plan, develop, and auction much of the province’s annual timber.

The Planning Forester analyzes and produces a range of data to develop resource and operational plans: the Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP) and operating plans. The position develops and implements results and strategies to meet the FSP and ensures planning components meet legislative, operating, and certification requirements. The position provides functional direction to field team professionals and technicians with expertise in timber development, harvesting, engineering and silviculture. The position builds and maintains relationships with representatives from Indigenous Peoples, resource stakeholders, Ministry and industry contacts.

Qualifications for this role include:
A Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or be eligible for registration as an RPF with the Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC) and two years of experience in operational field forestry activities.

Timber harvesting monitoring/conformanceCut-block developmentForest road engineeringSilvicultureTimber tenure development and administrationPlanning integrated resource managementMust possess at minimum a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License that does not limit or restrict the ability to conduct the duties of the job.Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service, which may include a criminal records check, and/or Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA) check, and/or enhanced security screening checks as required by the ministry (Note: It is important that you read the job posting carefully to understand the specific security screening requirements pertaining to the position).
