They cover pipe with earth or other materials, cut pipes to required lengths and help align and position pipe for welding and sealing. They also dig trenches to the desired depths.Duties and Responsibilities:Dig trenches to required depth by hand or using trenching toolsCuts and moves pipe into trenches, aligns, and joins themCover pipes with earth or other materialSignal equipment operators to ensure a safe and proper excavationEstablish alignment and grade with the use of a laserOperate mechanized equipment such as pickup trucks, rollers, tandem dump trucks, front-end loaders, and backhoesOther general labour and construction related duties as requiredRequirements:1 to 3 years of experience in underground pipe laying or assisting pipe layersMust be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 25 to 50 lbs on a regular basisValid drivers license and own mode of transportation requiredWork in all weather conditionsOvertime as requiredCavanagh Employee Benefits:· Family, people-centric culture· Safe and healthy workplace, promoting well being· Attractive, competitive compensation for qualified candidates· Internal growth opportunities· Training and development opportunities· Benefit, Wellness and Pension ProgramsThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to the classification.
