Job Description

Role title: Permit Coordinator

All-in rate range: $70 - $88 per hour

Per diems available: No.

Location of work: Around the Fredericton and Miramichi area, New Brunswick.

Other details: This role is assignment based. Work would be assigned to a permit coordinator as needed. Permit Coordinators would need to be available until December 31, 2024.

General Functions

The Permit Coordinator is responsible for the preplanning and coordination of work permits on larger jobs, but who is not involved in the actual performance of the work. A permit coordinator is appointed when, due to work complexity, it is favorable to have someone responsible for overall coordination of the work.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Serves as interface between permit holders and Work Planning / Controlling Authority
  • Fills role of Permit Coordinator as defined in SOP-T0019, Standard Operating Practices Contractors Permits. Some key responsibilities include:

o Application of work permits for qualified contractors.

o Defining the zone of protection and communicating such to the qualified contractor.

o Performing regular work site inspections.

o Performing field verification and ensuring that the contractors are competent.

o Must be present at the work site.

o Has the authority to stop and work being performed unsafely or not to the clients satisfaction.

o Track progress and complete regular updates.

o Arrange or complete work acceptance report and submit to the Energy Control Center.

o Performs authorization required for return switching.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Must be a qualified journeyman lineman holding a certificate of qualification issued under the Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification Act and be qualified as an unrestricted permit holder.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

Education and Experience Preferences

  • Supervisory Experience.
  • Experience relevant to the work.
  • Level of experience with the clients established work methods, planning and permit processes.

Key Competencies Preferences

  • Technical ability.
  • Leadership ability.
