How your role will add to the story:

This role is responsible for managing the pension and benefits programs for MB Canada that include but not limited to on boarding, off boarding, employee and manager consultation, audits, HRIS system changes, processes governance and controls. This role is also responsible for the disability management and the occupational health and safety related programs for the organization. In addition, this role will drive and manage various pension and benefits projects at MB Canada from stakeholder management, vendor management, change management and project management.

A day in the life

Pension Administration and Governance

  • Manages onboarding and offboarding of employees in the various MBC pension programs. Works closely with pension service providers to ensure accuracy of pension processes, communication, and administration.
  • Oversees and calculates pension monthly remittance process, pension adjustment process, year-end reconciliation, and budgeting for next year with bank, pension consultant, payroll, and finance department for all the pension plans at MB Canada.
  • Oversees and manages the annual pension audit with external partners , runs the pension committee meetings, and is responsible for the internal controls (ICS) tracking and reporting.
  • Manages pension projects and liaises with key stakeholders at HQ to drive the projects forward.

Benefits Management

  • Manages the administration of group insurance benefits programs (including extended health, dental, employee assistance, life insurance, AD&D, optional life, LTD, etc.). Benefits onboarding, offboarding, reporting and reconciliation.
  • Manages benefits projects such as plan changes and remarketing and aligns closely with HQ counterparts to ensure the implementation and improvement.
  • Works with the benefits providers and assists the communication, training, and change management of benefits programs.

Disability Management

  • Manages and provides guidance to employees and managers on WSIB/WCB, Short Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) and claims management.
  • Acts as a consultant to employees and managers in the processes of return to work and stay at work, based on the capabilities, required accommodations and medical restrictions.
  • Manages disability related data and reporting. Liaises with HR, payroll, and finance teams to ensure the systems are updated and the payments are made accurately.

Health and Safety Programs Management

  • Oversees and maintains the occupational health and safety programs and guidelines .
  • Monitors work practices to ensure legislative compliance with health and safety. Makes recommendations on the best practices. Provides advice to the joint health and safety committees and management on related action plans to reduce health and safety risk and to improve the safety culture of the organization.
  • Collaborates with external consultants and internal legal/compliance colleagues to review and revise relevant policies and guidelines as needed .
  • Ensures required health, wellness and safety trainings are provided according to legislative requirement through certified providers.

Qualifications

Mercedes-Benz Star skills, requirements & traits:

  • Post-secondary education in HR or Business Administration preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of previous related experience in Occupational Health and Safety, Disability Management and Pension and Benefits Management
  • Professional Certification - CHRP – attained or in-progress, preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with quality workmanship along with strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to multi-task and define priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, relationship-building skills, and consultation skills
  • Sound judgment, resourceful, trustworthy, with a strong tendency towards ethical and compliant behavior
  • Ability to deal effectively with confidential and sensitive matters.
