Located in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada, BD's state-of-the-art facilities cover 95,000 square feet, and employs a team of over 150 highly-skilled individuals. Overview of role Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Payroll & Benefits Specialist’s main responsibility will the administration of the Canadian and US payroll submission. The role is also responsible for updating employee information in the company’s Canadian HRIS and Benefits administration platforms. This role will require an individual who can work effectively with the Finance department to effectively submit payroll data and reflect required changes. This role is based in our Abbotsford location and this role is a fully onsite role. General Duties & Responsibilities Prepare and submit semi-monthly payroll for Canadian company. Work with US HR team on preparing and submitting US payroll. Works collaboratively with supervisors to ensure timecards are reviewed and approved prior to payroll deadlines. Maintain employee records for systems such as HRIS and Benefits System with current information including new hire, benefit elections, benefit changes, terminations, attendance, time-off, work related accidents / illnesses and other related areas. Responsible for making data changes in Company HRIS, ensuring to audit information frequently to ensure accurate data. Responsible for making employee data changes in Canadian benefits administration platform and working with benefits partners for open enrollment and plan changes. Coordinate and lead open enrollment periods ensuring accurate record keeping. Responsible for preparing and issuing year-end documents such as T4, W2, and other required employment related tax information. Ensure company adheres to local and federal payroll legislation. Review payroll reports and make corrections accordingly. Prepare reports from HRIS for various HR and management monthly reports. Prepare and enter Payroll Change Notification forms for employee information changes. Other duties as assigned by your supervisor. Work Environment Office / production facility environment. Steel toes and other personal protective equipment required when walking around production /warehouse floor. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of Canadian payroll experience. Preference for candidates with US payroll experience. Florida payroll is a plus but not required. Certified as either a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP), Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP), or equivalent certification. Experience with using ADP WorkforceNow for payroll is preferred. Similar experience with ADP products or payroll services of similar size is required. Accounting diploma Experience with payroll for a manufacturing company is preferred. Experience being the point of contact for employee inquiries. Able to handle confidential and sensitive employment information with discretion. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
