Our client in Toronto, ON is actively looking for an Payroll Specialist to join their team.
Title: Payroll Specialist
Location: Toronto, ON
Length of Assignment: Temporary
Salary: $30.00 - $32.00/hour
Job Summary:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for completing Year End on ADP Workforce Now. Other accountabilities include the full-cycle activities of the payroll function, including accounting, journal entries and reconciliations while ensuring compliance with company policy, collective agreements, and government legislation. The working environment is fast paced with deadline-driven tasks. The incumbent must have a high level of discretion in handling confidential information and manage multiple items at once and prioritize tasks.
Key Accountabilities:
End to end Year End processing
Prepare T4, RL1 and annual reconciliations for various Federal and Provincial agencies
Process T4 amendments
Prepare remittances for taxes, workers compensation boards, union and benefit carriers
Prepare and upload journal entries to the General Ledger
Conduct quarterly account reconciliations
Maintain payroll records
Preparing various payroll reports for both internal and external stakeholders and distributing them in timely manners.
Participate in system improvements and upgrades.
Perform other duties/tasks as assigned.
Key Competencies:
Current payroll processing experience with ADP Workforce Now
Completed 2022 Year End using ADP Workforce Now
Strong knowledge of payroll and employment legislation, accounting practices and principles, and compliance
Solid experience with journals and general ledger (GL)
Confident with payroll reconciliation
Ability to multi-task, process high volume of transactions and meet deadlines
Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information in a diplomatic and tactful manner
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong analytic & problem-solving skills
Excellent customer service skills with ability to deal effectively with all levels of staff
Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills
Education/Experience:
Must have current experience with ADP Workforce Now
Post secondary degree or diploma
PCP Designation with the Canadian Payroll Association
3- 5 years payroll experience for all Provinces.
Experience in both non-union and unionized environments an asset
Proficient in MS Office applications with advanced Excel proficiency
Working Conditions:
Office environment. * Concentration and attention to detail with frequent interruptions and tight timelines.
