Job Description

COMPANY OVERVIEW: A Montreal based fashion, wholesale apparel company with North American and international customers is searching for a Payroll & HR Specialist.

Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the manager, the incumbent is responsible for the following aspects of Payroll & HR function. More specifically, you will:

Payroll:

  • Manage payroll for all employees, including both salaried and hourly employees
  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate payroll reports prior to submission to Manager for review and approval; provide all necessary backup documentation
  • Understand and manage proper taxation of employer paid benefits
  • Update and reconcile monthly statements from ADP
  • Prepare periodic and annual government reporting Including DAS, 1% Training, salary equity law and other legislated requirements
  • Preparation of bi-weekly payroll entries for submission to Manager to review
  • Ensure vacation and medical leave banks are accurate and up to date
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are followed and respected
  • Produce ROEs as required
  • Assist on special projects as needed (one of them being the upgrade from Pay at Work to Workforce Now in ADP)
  • Assist in the Year End activities (processing T4/R1’s, assist in reporting for auditors, etc.)
  • Designer Tax Credit
  • All other payroll related tasks

Human Resources:

Employee Relations

  • Promote company values across the organization & assist the manager in all HR related tasks
  • Assist in organizing and managing corporate events, holidays, closures…
  • Prepare and issue all corporate communication as needed from time to time
  • Management of COVID protocol and ensuring there is compliance

Compensation & Benefits

  • Administration of group insurance for all companies
  • Management of employee parking for all companies.

Employee Onboarding & Terminations

  • Perform onboarding and coordinate with relevant departments including IT
  • Assist in managing terminations with department heads; senior management; coordinate with IT
  • Prepare necessary documentation as per company policy including offers of employment, and termination letters;

Recruiting

  • (Assist) Place ads, deal with recruiters, manage applications, screen cv’s and candidates
  • Other tasks and projects as needed

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a pay master with PCP certification (Payroll Compliance Practitioner)
  • 2-3 years hands on experience in human resources
  • Experience working with ADP Pay at Work and Workforce Now
  • Experienced user of Excel and Word
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (verbal and written) with all levels of management; open and transparent
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment based on strong people and organizational skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with ability to follow through and juggle competing priorities

  • Bilingual in English and French

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract

Pay: $65,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
