Job Description
FrontierCFO is looking for a tech-savvy Payroll Associate to support the finance function for emerging start-ups across Canada and the US.
With a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and responsiveness, this role holds a critical place in supporting our clients with one of the most important pillars of their business - compensating their employees and playing an active role in their employee experience.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing proactive and warm client support as the first point of contact for payroll-related questions and support information, including recognizing issues and changes as they arise.
- Providing a high standard of technical payroll support to multiple clients, as assigned, across Canada and the US.
- Processing semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll for multiple clients with up to 100+ employees through payroll management systems such as Wagepoint and Rippling.
- Processing of payroll adjustments, such as expense reimbursements, commission payouts, extended health benefits, RRSP contributions, and 401K contributions, while understanding the applicable tax treatment.
- Prepare federal and provincial/state payroll compliance filings as required for each client, including T4s, W-2s, EHT, T2200s, etc.
- Proficiency in researching payroll topics, demonstrating a resourcefulness in using tools available to you and comfort in navigating the unknown.
- Building effective working relationships with clients and co-workers by effectively collaborating on work deliverables.
- Meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining excellent quality of work.
Who we’re looking for
- You have 3+ years experience in payroll services — ideally experiencing public accounting in a cloud environment.
- You have a high level of tech savviness in navigating our internal tech stack and workflow management system, as well as various payroll platforms.
- You have proficient knowledge of multiple payroll systems (such as Wagepoint, Rippling, Payworks, Gusto, etc.) and are always looking for ways to optimize efficiencies and minimize manual processes.
- You have a strong understanding of both US and Canadian payroll compliance, including year-end filings and taxable treatment of income and deduction types.
- You have an intuitive communication style with team members and clients that contributes to our culture of trust, respect, and reliability — especially when working remotely and asynchronously.
- You have an uncanny ability to organize a high volume of data and information — while maintaining remarkable attention to detail and accuracy.
- You self-manage your schedule, priorities and deadlines in a flexible way that aligns with your team.
- You find meaning in working in a tight-knit team and thrive when collaborating with and learning from those around you.
What's included in our total rewards package?
- A competitive salary, paid vacation starting at 3 weeks and unlimited personal days.
- 100% employer paid health insurance, health spending account, and an EAP.
- Company-provided equipment: a high-performing laptop, two monitors, and all the peripherals.
- The flexibility to work from anywhere in Canada.
Compensation
$50,000- $60,000
