Job Title: Part-time Faculty, Urban Planning & GIS Requisition #: 24-0543 Location: Guelph Department: School of Engineering & Technology Hours/Week: 3-6 Closing Date: Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 11:59 PM EST Conestoga offers classes Monday to Sunday from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m., both in-person and online. Successful candidates for this position will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work at the Guelph campus, teaching on-site in person. Responsibilities: Ensure student awareness of course objectives, instructional approach, and evaluation systemsCarry out regularly scheduled instruction according to the format prescribed for the course, including online, classroom, and computer-assisted lab lessonsEvaluate student progress/achievement, assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the students work within the assigned course, and maintain records as requiredSupport students in the use of eConestoga, the learning management system (D2L), as well as maintain course materials within this systemCreate and maintain a positive learning environment which supports the diversity of students’ cultures, educational backgrounds, and learning stylesCollaborate and build relations with other program faculty Qualifications: Three-year Diploma/Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field is requiredMinimum three years of relevant industry experiencePrevious adult or post-secondary level teaching experience is an assetExperience with curriculum development is an assetKnowledge and experience of computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and educational technologies (e.g., D2L, Zoom) is an assetExcellent organizational, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively as part of an academic teamAbility to relate to learners and create a positive learning environment for students working at different skill levels, including international students and students requiring accommodationStrong commitment to academic excellence, student success, and ability to support Conestoga’s continuous quality improvement initiativesStrong relationships with industry contacts and network connections are an assetConestoga College is a leader in polytechnic education.
