Job Description

Infinera’s Ottawa office is looking for an enthusiastic New Graduate to help build the Next Generation Optical Communication System. As a member of the Hardware Optical Engineering team, you will have the opportunity to work with industry leading technology in a fast-pace environment. The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to test & analysis of optical system products under the direction of senior engineering staff. You will be working with cross-functional HW, FW, and SW teams to exceed Customer expectations on product performance and quality. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Optical Design and Verification Tests
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance to address test-related issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Analyze test data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement in product performance.
  • Document design test results using established tools.
  • Assist in test automation initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Related industry experience in an optical/electrical engineering lab
  • Working knowledge of optical & electrical test instrument
  • Experience in writing test scripts in Python and Matlab
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience in Layer 0 optical products is a plus
  • Excellent teamwork and personal leadership skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Great attention to details

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
