Job Summary: Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join their team. The primary responsibility of this role is to analyze costs, prepare budget reports, and ensure cost-effective operations within the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong mathematical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and reconcile cost discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and maintain cost reports and budget forecasts.
- Evaluate cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies to reduce expenses.
- Assist in month-end and year-end close processes related to costs and inventory.
- Collaborate with procurement and production teams to review and analyze cost variances.
- Develop and monitor internal control procedures related to cost accounting.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial analyses and reports as required by management.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required and must have a CMA or CPA or close to completing their CPA designation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven experience as a Cost Accountant in a similar role recently
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of cost accounting principles and practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
