Job Description:Job Description Occupational Therapist, Long-Term Care Rehabilitation Services POSITION TITLE: Occupational Therapist PROGRAM: Long-Term Care ADP Services LOCATION: LTC Home in Owen Sound STATUS: Permanent/Contractor HOURS: Part-Time REMUNERATION: Competitive This position is only open to those legally entitled to work in Canada. SUMMARY We require a skilled Occupational Therapist (ADP Authorizer) to provide the Assistive Devices Program (ADP) to Residents in a Long-Term Care Home in Owen Sound, ON. You will be responsible for providing assessments, recommendations, and equipment prescription for Residents who have been referred for an ADP Assessment. You will also serve as a resource and educator to the Home’s staff and Residents/Families regarding equipment recommendations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESProvide assessments and access funding under the Assistive Devices Program (ADP) to meet equipment needs, in compliance with all ADP required activities and documentation, as well as funding guidelinesImplement, monitor, and modify equipment to achieve Resident/Family goals in the areas of seating and positioning, equipment use and safety, and strategies to improve functionProvide in-house staff education sessions on topics such as adaptive equipment and ergonomic set-up for staff injury prevention, as required QUALIFICATIONSRegistrant in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of OntarioCertified Assistive Devices Program (ADP) Authorizer Completion of satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) upon hireUp-to-date on required vaccinations, including influenza vaccine (or commitment to take anti-viral medications in case of an outbreak), MMR, DTaP, varicella, and TB skin testKnowledge/experience in evidence-based musculoskeletal and neurological practice, with a strong emphasis on functional outcomesSuperior communication and clinical reasoning skillsCaring and compassionate in all interactions with Residents and Families Desirable skills and experience include previous delivery of the Assistive Devices Program for the geriatric population in an integrated care setting, preferably in a Long-Term Care Home.
